Historical Gladesville Mental Hospital Grounds
The Gladesville Mental Hospital (Asylum) was founded in 1838 and operated continuously for over 100 years. The area is open to members of the public.
You are very welcome to explore all outdoor spaces in this area, however, please note that these grounds are still an active NSW Health Facility, please be mindful of vehicle traffic and please also be sure to follow any directions or instructions issued by the health facility workers or security staff.
There are toilets available at various points throughout the grounds, however, Council toilets are always available at Bedlam Bay (the grass oval by the water).
