Household Clean-Ups

All households in Hunters Hill are entitled to four Clean Up collections per calendar year. Clean Ups are limited to 3 cubic metres per collection. Households cannot book in more than 1 collection for the same week.

Most items collected as part of the Clean Up service are sent to landfill. Before booking your Clean Up service, investigate if there are more sustainable ways to recycle some of your items. This especially applies to electronic waste, bikes and clothing. Check out our handy A-Z guide here.

What can be collected?

  • furniture, soft furnishing and broken toys
  • flat packed cabinetry with nails/sharp items removed
  • general household items (bagged and weighing <10kg per bag)
  • carpet (bundled with string, in rolls <1.2m long)
  • small appliances and whitegoods
  • mattresses

What cannot be collected

  • any household material that should normally be put into your red, yellow, blue or green household bins
  • building waste (soil, stone, concrete, renovation waste etc)
  • treated timber and pallets of any material type
  • hazardous waste such as gas cylinders, batteries, chemicals, paints or oils (search NSW EPA Chemical CleanOut for how to safely dispose of these types of items)
  • televisions and computers (please recycle at the Northern Sydney CRC - Artarmon)
  • motor vehicle parts and tyres
  • oversized items (clotheslines, gym equipment, commercial fridges etc).

Step 2.Receive Confirmation

Once your Clean Up has been booked, you will receive a confirmation email with booking reference number and collection date.

Place the items for collection safely on the kerbside the night before your scheduled collection date, keeping the footpath clear for pedestrians. Do not place your items out earlier, as people may add to your pile which will result in not all items being removed.

Step 3.Collection

Your items will be collected by URM.

General items are collected on Mondays or Tuesday, while whitegoods/metals are collected on Wednesdays.

If you experience any delays with your collection please call URM on 1300 136 460 and have your booking reference number available.
