Hunter’s Hill Council welcomed five new Australian citizens during a Citizenship Seremony tonight at Town Hall.

The conferees from United Kingdom, New Zealand, Hungary, Poland, Kingdom of the Netherlands, and the Peoples of Republic of China, were joined by family and friends as they took the pledge of loyalty to Australia and received their citizenship certificates before Mayor of Hunters Hill Zac Miles.

“It is wonderful to welcome our newest citizens to Hunters Hill and I look forward to welcoming more during our next ceremony that will be held during Refugee Week,” Councillor Miles said.

The Citizenship Ceremony was a special and moving experience for all involved.

“Having lived in Australia nearly all my life, I am extremely happy and grateful to become a citizen,” new citizen Thomas said.

Conferee Beata reaffirmed this sentiment.

“I feel honoured to become a citizen today and look forward to spending the rest of my life in Australia and creating a family here” she said.

Singer Jordyn Richards led the Australian National Anthem and performed throughout the ceremony.

Hunter’s Hill Council congratulates all of the new citizens and thanks everyone who attended tonight.

Council administers Citizenship Ceremonies on behalf of the Department of Home Affairs.
