COMMUNITY-LED EVENT: Mental Health Month Lecture: Mental Disorders 101
Next date: Wednesday, 29 October 2025 | 05:30 PM
to 07:00 PM
Join Professor Viv Wuthrich for this introductory seminar to understand more about the science of common mental disorders. The session will cover key concepts such as what are anxiety and mood disorders, what causes them, how do you know if you have one, and most importantly what can be done to treat these disorders.
You will learn to recognise common signs, explore practical strategies for support, and gain insights into promoting mental wellbeing for yourself and others. Whether you're a student, professional, or simply curious, this session offers a clear and accessible foundation for understanding the science of mental disorders.
Do you ever wonder:
- What is an anxiety disorder exactly?
- What causes depression?
- What is a panic attack?
- How does psychological therapy actually work?
- Do children grow out of anxiety disorders?
- What exactly is cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT)?
* Light refreshments will be served from 5.30pm and formalities will begin at 6pm.
* Please note this is a hybrid event. If you are joining us online, please use the link in the Humanitix confirmation email to access the event from 6pm.
