History Week Discussion
Celebrate History Week with Hunter’s Hill Council’s Heritage Adviser, Chery Kemp and City of Canada Bay's Local Studies Librarian, John Johnson as they share fascinating stories of the rich history of the Parramatta River.
The event will take place on Wednesday 10 September from 10.30am at the Hunters Hill Town Hall. Light refreshments will be served.
Chery and John will explore the Parramatta River as a barrier, a transport link, a boundary and an object of desire. Discover the river's rich history of Aboriginal tool-making and food gathering, the early punts and ferries that crossed its waters, and the elegant houses built along its banks.
Chery Kemp is an experienced heritage practitioner who has worked with many local councils, including the City of Sydney, as well as in private consultancy as a heritage professional.
John Johnson is an experienced local studies librarian, archivist, and consulting historian. He is the author of The Model Suburb: A History of the Malvern Hill Estate, Croydon.
