MEDIA RELEASE

Parking meters are to be removed from Buffalo Creek, following a decision of Hunter’s Hill Council tonight (Monday 14 September 2020).

Council determined that the parking meters will be removed from Buffalo Creek at the conclusion of the current contract.

Council at its meeting tonight also determined to seek public feedback on plans that aim to foster a sustainable and thriving future for Hunters Hill and make getting around easier.

A draft Community Infrastructure Plan (CIP) and a draft Bike Plan will be placed on public exhibition.

A community consultation program for the draft CIP will also occur throughout September and October, in addition to the public exhibition period.

The draft CIP brings together information and analysis of Council’s current facilities and properties, previous research and plans, demographic data and regional and State planning, and current and projected demographic data to identify opportunities to deliver greater community benefits.

It provides strategic directions and recommendations on how best to use Council’s community facilities and property holdings to meet existing and future needs of the community, taking into account the status of current community facilities, community expectations and the long-term sustainability of Council.

The draft Bike Plan is designed to promote and encourage bicycle use in Hunters Hill.

It incorporates a review of the existing cycleway network and suggests developing a network of bicycle routes to meet current and future community needs.

Proposed links to local destinations and regional routes that align with Council, regional and state government plans and strategies, and potential priorities and forecasts for works are outlined.

Opportunities suitable for riders of all ages, experience and abilities and routes suitable for commuter and experienced riders are identified in the draft plan.
