Road safety around local schools is set to improve with the installation of new School Pick up/Drop off zone signage.
In response to the most recent audit of school zone signage, Hunter’s Hill Council revamped the imaging and messaging of the School Pick up/Drop off Zone bollards outside each of the four local high schools in the municipality.
Printed on bright yellow corflute, the highly visible bollards are designed to better indicate the beginning and end of ‘Pick up/Drop off Zone – Within No Parking Zone’, as well as provide useful information around road rules when travelling in the zones.
The signs also act as a visual reminder to drivers to be mindful of their surroundings and to take the utmost care around schools.
As part of this initiative, Council has circulated a School Zone Newsletter to further inform regular users of the designated zones about relevant rules and regulations and provided additional and replacement bollards to all the primary schools in the area.
Simultaneously, Council is also working with Transport for NSW to run a series of additional initiatives to boost road safety throughout the municipality, including a ‘Teach a Learner Driver’ workshops and Child Car Seat Checking Service.
These initiatives reinforce Council’s ongoing commitment to improving road safety for the community through the delivery of effective road safety education initiatives.
