Hunters Hill residents seeking in-home assistance or transport services are advised to contacted Sydney Community Services (SCS) or Stryder.

Both organisations continue to offer support during the COVID lockdown.

Essential services such as nursing, home-delivered meals, in-home respite, disability support, hardship assistance and assisted activities continue to operate through SCS and are open to new referrals. Although the services might look different, customer, staff and community safety is the primary focus at this time.

The organisation’s Group Disability Services have transitioned to virtual platforms and are open for new referrals.

SCS is also seeking donations of food and pantry staples to help individuals and families to get through a crisis.

It is reaching out for tinned food, such as tuna, tomatoes, beans, breakfast cereals, long life milk, tea coffee, sugar, pasta and rice in order to help individuals and families to get through a crisis.

Donations can either be dropped off at the SCS office at 46 Gladesville Rd from 8.30am to 4.00pm Monday to Friday, or supermarket online orders can be delivered directly to SCS.

If you or someone you know are in financial distress or need emergency food supplies, please call SCS in advance on 9427 6425 and then come along to our Lane Cove office at 1 Pottery Lane, Lane Cove (opposite the swimming pool) or our Hunters Hill at 46 Gladesville Road, Hunters Hill office between 8.30 and 4pm.

Staff are committed to serving our community and delivering high-quality care, especially during the lockdown. SCS says people can be assured that staff follow the strictest infection control guidelines in line with the NSW Heath protocols.

If you would like any information about how SCS can support you or someone you know, or if you would like to make a donation, please contact 8598 7051 or support@sydneycs.org.

Henley-based transport company Stryder also remains available to assist the Hunters Hill community during the lockdown.

As an essential service it is still operating, with COVID safety measures in place.

Transport to medical appointments including COVID and flu vaccination appointments is one of Stryder’s most popular services and it provides this service to the frail and disadvantaged.

Check the Stryder website for more information or phone 9816 5000.
