Hunter’s Hill Council has today formally presented St John Ambulance NSW with a community-fundraised donation of more than $700. The donation is the result of the ‘Dunk the Mayor’ challenge at the Council’s premier carnival, Moocooboola Festival, which took place on 20 August, 2022.
Mayor Zac Miles met with volunteers from St John Ambulance NSW at the Town Hall to present the donation and thank them for their ongoing role in first-aid safety at Council events.
The Council also expressed its gratitude to the community for giving generously at the ‘Dunk the Mayor’ challenge.
“It did not help that the water was about 6 degrees, but I was very happy to get dunked to raise funds for St John Ambulance,” Mayor Zac Miles said.
“They play such a vital role at our Council events, it’s great to be able to give back to a good cause while having a bit of fun.”
Sarah Lance, CEO of St John Ambulance NSW, said: “We are very grateful to Mayor Miles and the Hunters Hill Community for their generosity with this donation.
“Support like this benefits the wider community including those who seek help from St John Ambulance volunteers – whether it be at a local sporting match or school fair. It also helps contribute to skills training, better facilities, or purchasing critical equipment for our volunteers.”
The Council enjoys an extensive history with St John Ambulance NSW, who have been present for many other Council events providing first-aid health services over the years.
