The Christmas spirit is working its way from Hunters Hill to the bush, with the community responding generously to a Hunter’s Hill Council appeal to support its drought and bushfire-affected country neighbours.

A Mayoral Christmas Fundraiser was held in Hunters Hill Town Hall last night (December 12, 2019).

“This year we are sending our Christmas spirit to the bush,” Mayor Mark Bennett said.

“We are encouraging the community to donate online to our “Buy a Bale” campaign to assist farmers in need.”

Online donations to the Buy a Bale campaign can be made via: https://www.buyabale.com.au/donate/?supporter_id=170365

“People can also leave donations of non-perishable goods under our Town Hall wishing tree,” Clr Bennett said.

It is located at Council’s Customer Service Centre at 22 Alexandra Street, Hunters Hill.

“All donations will help our farmers and their families who are battling drought and fires,” Clr Bennett said.

The Mayoral Christmas Fundraiser got the campaign off to a strong start, with more than $3500 raised on the night and many goods donated.

Clr Bennett expressed his sincere thanks to those represented at the event including schools, church leaders, club officials, the Federal Minister Mr. Trent Zimmerman MP, event sponsors and donors, legal counsel, the Hunters Hill Trust and the Historical Society and others for their contribution to the community and their essential role, which binds the community together.

“These groups and individuals provide valuable assistance in our Council’s delivery of services to our community,” he said.
