Hunter’s Hill Council is hosting its Carols in Park event this Sunday (December 1) and as well as providing great entertainment, will be harnessing community spirit in support of The Salvos.

Carollers will be encouraged to dig deep and donate to The Salvation Army to assist its work in supporting people devastated by recent bush fires and those in need at Christmas.

Money will be used to help communities such as those in Hunters Hill’s sister city Richmond Valley, in the NSW Northern Rivers region, which has been affected by the bush fires.

The Salvos are assisting with financial and emotional support.

Australian Radio Network National News Director Deborah Clay will speak on stage at Carols in the Park with Salvation Army Major Bruce Harmer about the organisation’s work in the recent bush fire crisis and about charity at Christmas time.

The free Carols in the Park community event, held in Boronia Park (corner of Park and Ryde roads), will also have lots of on-stage entertainment by local performers.

The evening kicks off at 4pm and finishes with Santa and a spectacular fireworks display at 8.30pm.

Food stalls and rides are also part of the festivities.

Attendees are encouraged to bring along a refillable water bottle to keep hydrated (and reduce plastic waste) at a Sydney Water hydration station.

Coffee enthusiasts are also encouraged to bring their reusable coffee cups to help cut down waste at the event.

Opening times are:

  • Friday 29 November: 3pm – 8pm
  • Saturday 30 November: 10am – 4pm
  • Sunday 1 December: 10am – 4pm
