MEDIA RELEASE
Hunters Hill is looking forward to a new outdoor celebration of Australian stories, following a successful staging of its Carols in the Park event.
About 2000 people marked the start of the festive season on the oval at the Boronia Park on Sunday (6 December 2020) at the Hunter’s Hill Council-hosted event.
COVID-safe measures such as a limited number of free tickets and fencing allowed the Council to stage the in-person event, which is a traditional favourite for the Hunters Hill community.
Entertainment included performances from Jen and Ed, Mac Dubh, Jordyn and Lexi and the Uke Group, plus a visit from Mrs Claus and a fireworks display delivered by Howard & Sons Pyrotechnics.
It set the stage for a major new event coming in 2021: Australia Bay.
The open-air cinema festival will celebrate Australian Stories in the lead up to Australia Day.
The Australia Bay event will include screenings of different Australian films across five nights.
This free, ticketed outdoor festival is promoting the Australia Day theme of Reflect, Respect & Celebrate.
The festival will include a celebration of the community with the Council’s Citizenship Awards and Ceremony on Australia Day.
The festival will run from Friday 22 January to Tuesday 26 January, 2021 at Bedlam Bay.
Free tickets are now open to registrations and bookings are essential.
