The Hunters Hill local government area is primarily affected by overland flow flooding.

Overland flow flooding occurs as rainfall runoff moves towards downstream waterways.

A small portion of properties can be affected by mainstream flooding which occurs when runoff from streets and drains flow into waterways causing them to rise and inundate areas that are usually dry.

You can help protect your home against storm damage by:

  1. Regularly trimming your trees.
  2. Keeping your gutters clear.
  3. Ensuring water can flow away from your home.
  4. Replacing missing or damaged roof tiles.
  5. Ensuring your home is fitted with an electrical safety switch.
  6. Walking around your property checking for loose objects.
  7. Ensuring proper sealing of doors and windows.
  8. Checking for loose fence posts.

For more information on planning and preparing for storms, contact the State Emergency Service (SES): www.ses.nsw.gov.au or 132 500.
