Each year, Australia Day Ambassadors volunteer their time and energy to inspire pride and celebration in local communities.

Ambassadors include community members, sportspeople, scientists, businesspeople, arts workers and former Australian of the Year Awards recipients.

They participate in Australia Day activities around the state, sharing meaningful stories and connecting with communities.

In 2022, the Hunters Hill Australia Day Ambassador is Ethan Butson.

Ethan is a 26-year-old scientific inventor who aims to develop innovative solutions to medical and scientific problems.

After completing his Advanced Science degree, majoring in both Physics and Chemistry, and a Masters in Medical Physics at the University of Sydney, Ethan is currently a registrar at Westmead Hospital working in radiation oncology for cancer treatment.

“To be considered among the great people who have been Australia Day ambassadors is a great honour and not a blessing I accept lightly,” he said.

“I pray I can help inspire others to identify and apply truth in their lives.”

Ethan will participate in Hunter’s Hill Council’s Australia Day Awards and Citizenship Ceremony at Bedlam Bay.

“Hunters Hill is a beautiful area and, given my work with radiation, holds a special kind of significance to me,” he said.

“I am looking forward to meeting everyone and to sharing our stories.

“Australia Day is an incredible opportunity for people in all walks of life to come together, to support each other and recognise our great country and people.”
