Kelly’s Bush has a rich history to explore for anybody interested in environmental conservation culture and practices. Previously the site of a tin smelter, the site was famously saved from incoming development by dedicated conservationists in 1971. Dedicated Bushcare volunteers now carry on the legacy of the Kelly’s Bush Battlers who worked so hard to preserve this vital site for future generations.

The site now boasts a huge array of native plant species, with volunteers lovingly restoring and maintaining regenerating areas, whilst also battling weeds present elsewhere on site. The site itself is 4.8 hectares with plenty of opportunities to learn a broad range of native and weed species. This is a great place to see the positive impacts Bushcare can make on a very big scale, and get involved in making them yourself!

Kelly’s Bush volunteers love to share their knowledge over a nice cup of morning tea, so come and join in and be involved in conserving the natural beauty, and cultural heritage of this great site!

If you would like to become a supporter of Kellys Bush but don’t want to join bushcare, please email kellysbushfriends@gmail.com for more information.

This Bushcare group meets every Monday, at 8.00am.
