Council reviewed its Significant Tree Register (STR) during 2014/15 and developed a revised STR where listings are now supported by a Tree Profile Sheet that provides details about the subject trees and the criteria used to establish their significance.
At the Ordinary Council meeting of 24 August 2015, Council adopted the revised STR which has a total of 34 listings. At this meeting Council also resolved to implement a 12 year growth and review cycle for the STR in order to increase the number of listings to the point where they are truly representative of the Significant Trees in the Hunters Hill Municipality. During this 12 year period new nominations for trees to be added to the Register will be collated and assessed in 2019, 2022, 2025 and 2028. During this time the STR will also be subject to two reviews in 2022 and 2028.
The STR includes the following documents:
Significant Tree Register Background Paper: This document addresses amongst other topics – the purpose of a Significant Tree Register, the way significance is assessed, the implications of a listing and the landscape history of the Hunters Hill Local Government Area
The Significant Tree Nomination Form
New nominations for trees to be assessed for inclusion on the STR may be emailed to: customerservice@huntershill.nsw.gov.au or posted to:
