Driver Fatigue

Driver fatigue is one of the top three contributors to the NSW road toll. However, unlike drink driving, there are no laws regulating driver fatigue. Fatigue-related crashes can happen on any trip no matter how long or short, or what time of the day.

Fatigue symptoms to look out for

  • Yawning
  • Poor concentration
  • Restlessness
  • Drowsiness
  • Tired eyes
  • Slow reactions
  • Over-steering

How to reduce driver fatigue

  • Get 7-8 hours sleep
  • Plan your trip
  • Take a break every two hours
  • Share the driving
  • If you are using medications, check with your doctor before driving
  • Delay your trip if you feel tired
  • Stop and enjoy a coffee at one of Hunters Hill’s many cafes
