CommunARTy is a community art exhibition celebrating art in Hunters Hill. It will run from Friday 6 November to Sunday 15 November at the Hunters Hill Town Hall. Details about this exhibition can be found on the opens in a new windowCommunARTy webpage.

Artworks for CommunARTy will be selected and judged via photos uploaded to the Artist Entry portal.

If you are having trouble using the Artist Portal, please email people@huntershill.nsw.gov.au or call 02 9879 9400 and ask to speak to the Events Coordinator about Art Entries. You may be asked leave a message with your details and we will get back to you.

To complete your entry you will need to have the following information or items handy:

  5. GST Status
  6. ABN / ACN (if applicable)
  7. Credit Card for online payment

Additional details if you have them:

  1. Artist Pseudonym
  2. Awards
  3. Short Biography

ARTWORKS

  1. Artwork Title
  2. Artwork Medium (e.g oil on canvas)
  3. Artwork Category (eg. Painting. Sculpture)
  4. Artwork Dimensions in CM (H x W x D)
  5. Retail Sale Price (Including GST and 35% Hunters Hill Council commission)
  6. Artwork Year
  7. Artwork Description
  8. Good resolution Photo (JPG / PNG / or TIFF). Please crop photos to just show artwork.

  • You must enter credit card payment details before entering your artist & artwork information.
  • A non-refundable entry fee of $35 (inclusive of GST) will be charged per artist.
  • If you are 18 years old or under, please contact people@huntershill.nsw.gov.au to have your entry fee waived BEFORE you apply
  • A separate entry must be completed for each artist
  • Maximum 5 entries per artist
  • Artwork media may include paintings, drawings, mixed media, sculpture and photography
  • Details must be provided for each artwork
  • All entries must be the original work of the artist and completed within the last 12 months

Artwork will be selected for the exhibition by a panel from photos uploaded to the Artist Portal. The decisions of the panel and judges are final.

If your artwork is selected you will receive a short email notifying you of approval. A follow-up email will be sent confirming instructions for delivery.

Please do not phone the Council to check if your artwork has been selected.

The selected artwork list will also be listed on the CommunARTy webpage.

PREPARING YOUR ARTWORK

 All paintings and sculptures must be dry.

  • All artwork (excluding sculptures) must be framed or professionally presented. They must be ready for display with wire and D-ring hanging devices – as shown below.
  • There should be no screw eyes or projections on the artwork that could cause damage.
  • Frames or hanging devices requiring repair work will be rejected.
  • Framed area of all artworks is not to exceed 1800mm (6ft) by 1500mm (5ft) 
  • Triptych & diptych artworks must be attached together as if one artwork – otherwise they will be treated as separate entries.
  • Hanging Art works may not exceed 15kg 
  • Sculptures – up to 50kg (Sculpture over 20kg may need to be positioned by the Artist prior to Opening.)

You will receive an email notifying you if your artwork has been selected for exhibition. Please print out the attached label and QR code from the email when you bring your artwork in for Accessioning.

Please make sure you label your artwork with Artwork Name, Artist Name, Price.

Physical Artwork for SELECTED artwork will need to be delivered to the rear of Hunter’s Hill Town Hall, 22 Alexandra Street, Hunters Hill NSW 2110. Enter through Loading Dock at D’Aram St Staff Car Park entrance. There is no parking available in this Car Park for artists.

Monday 2nd November 10:00am – 7.00pm
Tuesday 3rd November 8.00am – 4.30pm

Overview:

    • Artwork must be framed
    • Artwork must be ready to hang with d-rings and wire
    • Artwork must be dry
    • Labels must be attached to the artwork
    • All packaging must be taken away by the Artist
    • Artists will need to sign in when delivering artwork.
    • A QR code to read with your phone will be available for Covid-19 Contact Tracing.
    • Artists will need to wear a mask when delivering artwork

LABEL THE BACK OF EACH ARTWORK

Label clearly on the back of each art work: the Artist’s name, Title of artwork and the price (including GST) that the artwork will be sold for.

  • These details must be the same as on the entry form.

Selected Artwork can not be collected until after the Exhibition has closed.

COVID-SAFE

Everyone delivering artwork to Hunters Hill Town Hall must abide by Covid-Safe Practices  including practicing social distancing, using hand sanitiser and wearing a mask. Hunters Hill Council is an accredited COVID-Safe organisation and will follow all State Government and NSW Health regulations and recommendations. 

Please follow all directions. Abuse of staff and volunteers will not be tolerated. Hunters Hill Council can refuse to take delivery of an artwork if an artist or a member of their household has tested positive to Covid-19 during the previous 14 days

BRING LABEL THAT WAS IN YOUR APPROVAL EMAIL as this will be scanned by Accessioning team.

Artwork (both sold and un-sold) will be available for collection from Wednesday 18 November.

ARTWORK ACCEPTANCE (ACCESSIONING)

    • Artwork must be framed.

Selected artworks will be listed on www.huntershill.nsw.gov.au/communarty. Emails will be sent to artists confirming delivery details.

PAYMENT & ARTWORK ENTRY

$35 (inclusive of GST) Entry fee per artist. 

CREDIT CARD PAYMENTS ONLY

Entry is via the online portal only.  No in person payments can be accepted.

Artists 18 years old and younger will have their entry fees waived if they contact PEOPLE@HUNTERSHILL.NSW.GOV.AU before entering.

  • Payment method needs to be completed in portal before artwork may be uploaded
  • Each artwork will be judged in all Prizes and Awards categories for which it is eligible.
  • Entry fees are non refundable.
  • A separate entry form must be completed for each artist.
  • Maximum 5 entries per artist.
  • Details must be provided for each artwork
  • All entries must be the original work of the artist and completed within the last 12 months.

FINANCIAL INFORMATION

SALES:

All entries must be for sale and all G.S.T. registered artists should include G.S.T. in the total selling price of their artwork.

COMMISSION:

A 35% fee will be charged on all sales.

INSURANCE:

This is the responsibility of the artist. Council accepts no responsibility for loss, theft or damage.

You must complete the GST and / or Withholding tax sections of the Entry form.

DECLARATION

By submitting your artwork for CommunARTY you agree that:

  1. The artwork submitted by you is an original artwork, created by you within the last 12 months. 
  2. You have read and agreed to the conditions of entry *LINK* for CommunARTy 2020 and that all information provided in your Artist Profile and Artwork Entry  is true and correct. 
  3. You have read and noted all important dates such as notifications, various drop off and collection dates and times. 

ARTWORK DELIVERY AND COLLECTION

IN PERSON DELIVERY AND COLLECTION:

Personally deliver and collect artwork to/from Hunters Hill Town Hall, 22 Alexandra St, Hunters Hill – unless you are informed of an alternative address. All Artwork must be delivered/collected on dates specified in the Important Dates section. All necessary delivery and collection arrangements to be made by the Artist for the dates specified.

Selected Artwork can not be collected until after the Exhibition has closed.

ARTWORK DETAILS

Artists may submit up to 5 individual works. Details must be completed and photograph provided for each artwork.

Before completing the measurements field, please check the “Preparing Your Artwork” list below to ensure you are complying with entry size and weight restrictions.

Please supply the measurements of the artwork as cm(H) x cm(W) x cm(D).

Upload a hi-resolution photograph of your artwork. This photograph will be used for selection and judging. Only .jpg, png. or .bmp will be accepted.

Submit only one photograph per artwork.

COPYRIGHT:

Hunter’s Hill Council reserves the right to photograph works exhibited in the Hunters Hill Art Exhibition for the purpose of documentation and promotion as well as for use in an online gallery.

All necessary acknowledgements of authorship will be duly made.

Please do not include elements in your artwork for which you do not hold Copyright.

REFUSAL OF ENTRY:

Hunter’s Hill Council reserves the right to refuse any entry.

In the event of a dispute regarding the interpretation of the Conditions of Entry, the decision of  Hunter’s Hill Council shall be final.
