Australian Citizenship Ceremonies are hosted by Hunter’s Hill Council approximately three times per year in the Hunters Hill Town Hall and a public ceremony is held on Australia Day.
Council does not process or approve citizenship applications. An application for Australian Citizenship is made to the Department of Home Affairs via their website or telephone the Australian Citizenship Information Line Monday-Friday 8.30am-4.30pm on 131 881.
Once your Australian citizenship application has been processed by the Department of Home Affairs you will receive a letter advising that your application has been successful. It will then take from 3-6 months for you to receive a second letter from the Department of Home Affairs inviting you to attend a ceremony at Hunters Hill Council where you will be required to make a Pledge of Commitment as an Australian citizen and be presented with a certificate of citizenship.
