Proposed changes to Statewide streamlined approvals code 2012

On the 12 October, 2012 the State Government published a series of major changes to the State Environmental Planning Policy (Exempt and Complying Codes) 2008 known as the ‘Codes SEPP’. The Codes SEPP was introduced to expedite many forms of development in NSW. The Codes SEPP specified development that did not need any form of approval (exempt development) and development that if it complied with the code could be approved in 10 days or less (complying development).

The State Government has released 7 information sheets on the proposed changes. The information sheets are available at “What’s New – Proposed Changes to Streamline Approval Codes” on 12 October 2012 at the Department of Planning & Infrastructure website www.planning.nsw.gov.au. Council is currently preparing a submission on the proposed changes and once completed will post it on Council’s website. All residents are encouraged to review the proposed changes and also make submissions.

How can submissions be made?

Written submissions on the proposed amendments to the Codes SEPP must be submitted by Friday 9 November 2012. Submissions can be emailed to codes@planning.nsw.gov.au or posted to the following address:
