Where Does Our Waste Go?

Hunter’s Hill Council entered into a 10 year waste disposal contract in alliance with City of Ryde, Lane Cove, Ku-ring-gai and Willoughby Councils as of 1 December 2015.

The Disposal Contract covers waste sourced from the following categories of waste that are collected by Collection Vehicles for the purposes of the Alliance Disposal Agreement:
(a) Red bin; (garbage)
(b) Household Clean Up Waste;
(c) Street sweepings; (Council service)
(d) Commercial;
(e) Public waste bins, litter bins; and
(f) Illegal dumping. (Council service).

The waste collected is taken to Clyde Transfer Station and Greenacre (Household Clean Up Waste) from where it is transported to a Waste Processing Facility at Woodlawn operated by the Contractor appointed under the Disposal Agreement. The target is to achieve 55% recovery rate with further recovery of inorganic residues to be achieved through the development of Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF) which will significantly increase the recovery rate to 83%.
